It makes me very, very sad that colon cancer is taking more and more young people’s lives.  Recently, it was the cause of death for the actor Chadwick Boseman.  Colorectal cancer rates have been increasing in people under 50.  Colon cancer is preventable though lifestyle changes and regular checkups.

I actually had bleeding from the rectum.  I had tiny growths removed during a colonoscopy in my late 30s.  That is important so the growths don’t grow into something malignant like colorectal cancer which is the second or third cause of cancer deaths in the United States.  If I didn’t take care of it then, I probably wouldn’t be here writing this blog.

Even if you are under 50, if you have any of the symptoms of bowel cancer don’t wait.  Get an exam right away if you have either of these symptoms:.

  • bloody stool,
  • bleeding from the rectum

Symptoms to be concerned about and you should talk to your doctor or get an exam include:

  • constipation or diarrhea
  • a change in bowel habits
  • dark sticky feces
  • feeling anemic
  • abdominal pain or cramps
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • unexplained weight loss.

Sometimes you can be thin on the outside but you are fat on the inside, so the unexplained weight loss is something to really pay attention to.

If you eat a lot of sugar, that is really a bad thing.  Metabolic factor  sugar blood turns to insulin excessive sugar.  Insulin key role in bowel cancer.  High insulin development and growth cancer cells and prolific of cancer cells

Are you doing everything you can to protect yourself?

Are you doing everything you can to protect your self? Here is a quick quiz to check your cancer risk.  It is put together by the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Diet is not the only cause.  There are several reason that will increase your odds of getting bowel cancer.   Besides diet the other factors that you have control over are:

  • Vitamin D deficiency
  • Physical inactivity
  • Lack of Fiber
  • Alcohol use
  • Tobacco use

It will help to eat better and eliminate processed  and red meat.   Substitute processed meats with  fish or chicken  is a good start.  Eating lots of fruits, vegetables, legumes and grains are even better.  And buying local locally grown products is great to keep for freshness and healthier choices.

Bowel-Cancer-Is-The-Third-Leading-Cause-of-Cancer-Death

Bowel Cancer is the third cause of Cancer Deaths

India has a lower incident of bowel cancer than here in the United States.  Not only do people in India eat more home made meals fiber vegetarian they are more active.  But countries increase of BigFood does see an increase in bowel cancer.

Increased risk of bowel cancer goes up 25% function of vitamin D (vitamin in sun in eggs and butter)

Don’t take my word for it.  Here is a blueprint to beat cancer from the American Institute for Cancer Research. MMmmmm.  It says a lot of the same thing DietCommunity says.  But instead of  Its not your, its BigFood they recommend limit consumption of “Fast Foods” and other processed foods high in fat, starches, or sugars and limit consumption of sugar-sweetened drinks.  They are just not as blunt as I am!
